How it works.
Natural organic reduction is a gentle, science-backed process that transforms human remains into rich, living soil — in about 60 days.
Family Consultation
We begin with a personal consultation — in person or by phone — to walk your family through every detail of the arrangement. We answer every question, honor every wish, and ensure you feel fully prepared and supported before anything begins.
Typically 1–2 hours. No obligation. We come to you.
Transport & Preparation
When the time comes, we coordinate all transportation from the place of death to our 142-acre property in Au Sable Forks. Your loved one is placed in a vessel with organic materials — wood chips, straw, and wildflowers — that will support the transformation.
We offer ground transportation from New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, and surrounding areas. Our permitting is in progress and expected to clear by fall 2027.
Natural Organic Reduction
Over approximately 60 days, microbial activity naturally transforms the body into nutrient-dense soil. The vessel is gently tended and turned throughout the process. No chemicals. No combustion. Just the same cycle that has sustained life on earth for billions of years.
Temperature, moisture, and oxygen are carefully monitored throughout.
Soil Return
The resulting soil — roughly one cubic yard of rich, living compost — is returned to your family. You may use it to plant a tree, nourish a garden, or scatter it on land that held meaning for your loved one. Or, with your permission, it may be used to restore native habitat on our property.
Families receive approximately 1 cubic yard of finished soil.
Property Visit
Families are welcome to visit our land — to walk the forest, sit by the Au Sable River, and feel connected to the place where this transformation occurred. We believe the land itself is part of the memorial.
Visits by appointment. Open year-round.
Environmental Impact
A death that gives back.
Conventional burial and cremation carry a significant environmental cost. Natural organic reduction offers a meaningful alternative — one that returns carbon to the soil rather than releasing it into the atmosphere.
